Legacy of Kain: Defiance brings Kain and Raziel together as dual protagonists in a story that continues the events of Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2. Their separate journeys gradually intersect as both attempt to understand the forces manipulating Nosgoth’s history.
The game shifts the series toward faster action while preserving environmental puzzles, realm shifting, and the Soul Reaver mythology. Chapters alternate between Kain and Raziel, giving each character different powers and movement abilities.
How the Gameplay Works
Both protagonists use combo-based melee combat built around their respective Reaver weapons. Attacks can launch enemies into the air, continue into longer combinations, and charge supernatural finishing abilities.
Kain can use vampiric powers and teleport-style movement, while Raziel retains the ability to shift between material and spectral realms. Environmental puzzles require telekinesis, elemental Reaver powers, climbing, jumping, and dimensional changes depending on the character.
