Lords and Villeins is a medieval colony simulation where players govern a settlement made up of individual families rather than directly controlling every worker. Households receive land and responsibilities, produce goods, manage their own resources, and participate in a local economy under the player’s rule.
The system creates a more decentralized settlement than many colony builders. Farmers, craftsmen, clergy, nobles, and other social groups develop relationships and economic dependencies as the village grows from a small community into a larger medieval society.
How the Gameplay Works
Players assign land and production responsibilities to families, who then organize their own members and resources. Goods move between households through trade, taxation, and contracts rather than requiring the player to manually distribute every item.
Buildings, agriculture, production chains, taxation, seasons, and social classes all need to be considered as the settlement expands. The ruler can influence the economy through laws and policies while allowing individual households to manage much of their everyday work.
