About This Game:
Metal Slug 3 is a fast-paced 2D run-and-gun action game that expands the series with larger stages, branching routes, new vehicles, and a wider variety of enemies. Players once again join the Peregrine Falcon Squad and fight against General Morden’s forces, but the campaign quickly grows beyond a normal military conflict as zombies, giant creatures, mutants, and alien enemies begin appearing. The game mixes its familiar battlefield action with increasingly unusual locations and enemies, giving each mission a very different feel.
The campaign features Marco Rossi, Tarma Roving, Eri Kasamoto, and Fio Germi as playable characters, each using the same core controls while fighting through beaches, deserts, underwater areas, cities, and heavily defended military installations. Players can collect stronger weapons, rescue prisoners, and take control of several Slug vehicles throughout the adventure. Branching paths also allow certain stages to be experienced in different ways, adding more variety to repeated playthroughs.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through side-scrolling stages while running, jumping, shooting, throwing grenades, and avoiding large amounts of enemy fire. The standard pistol has unlimited ammunition, while weapons such as heavy machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, and laser guns provide stronger attacks with limited ammunition. Prisoners found during missions can be rescued for additional weapons, ammunition, and score bonuses.
Several stages contain alternate routes that lead to different enemies, environments, and vehicles before reconnecting with the main mission. Players can operate machines such as the classic Metal Slug tank, Slugnoid, Slug Mariner, and other specialized vehicles suited to particular sections. Some levels also temporarily transform the characters, including zombie sections where movement and attacks change. Boss fights become increasingly large and chaotic, eventually leading to battles against powerful alien forces.
