Murder Is Game Over is a pixel-art murder mystery centered on detective Guy and his clue-sniffing dog Cleo. Each case places them at a suspicious death where a limited group of suspects, hidden evidence, and contradictory stories must be examined before the culprit can be identified.
The game follows the structure of a traditional whodunit rather than an action adventure. Locations are compact enough to investigate thoroughly, while conversations and collectible clues gradually reveal motives and relationships between suspects.
How the Gameplay Works
Players walk around the crime scene, speak with characters, inspect points of interest, and gather evidence. Cleo can help locate hidden clues that might otherwise be missed during a visual search of the environment.
Once enough information has been collected, the player must answer questions about the crime and accuse the person they believe is responsible. Correctly solving the case depends on connecting evidence with testimony rather than simply finding every collectible object.
