Need for Speed: The Run is a cinematic racing game built around a cross-country competition from San Francisco to New York. Driver Jack Rourke enters the dangerous event in an attempt to escape serious financial trouble and must outrun hundreds of competitors across the United States.
The campaign moves through deserts, mountains, cities, highways, snowy passes, and rural roads rather than using a single open world. Story scenes and occasional on-foot quick-time sequences connect the racing stages.
How the Gameplay Works
Players drive licensed sports, muscle, exotic, and performance cars through point-to-point races, time challenges, rival battles, and traffic-heavy sections. Slipstreaming, drafting, nitrous, and aggressive overtaking help gain positions during shorter events.
Certain stages include weather, avalanches, police pursuits, or environmental hazards that change the racing conditions. Challenge Series events and multiplayer provide additional races outside the main coast-to-coast story.
