Rayman 2: The Great Escape brings Rayman into a fully 3D adventure after robotic pirates led by Admiral Razorbeard invade his world. Rayman must escape captivity, rescue his friends, and restore the magical power needed to defeat the pirates and repair the damage caused by their occupation.
The journey travels through forests, caves, temples, pirate facilities, and other imaginative locations filled with characters and secrets. Rayman’s abilities expand throughout the adventure, allowing increasingly complex platforming and exploration.
How the Gameplay Works
Players control Rayman from a third-person perspective while running, jumping, climbing, swimming, and firing energy attacks. Lums and cages are scattered throughout levels, rewarding players who investigate routes away from the immediate objective.
New abilities and environmental mechanics appear as the journey continues, while certain stages introduce riding, sliding, flying, and other special movement sequences. Boss battles and pirate encounters provide combat between the larger platforming areas.
