Scott Pilgrim EX returns to the colorful world of Scott Pilgrim with a new beat-’em-up adventure spanning Toronto, distorted timelines, and increasingly strange locations. After Scott’s bandmates are taken by mysterious forces, Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and an expanded group of playable characters head out to discover who is responsible. Along the way they encounter rival groups including Vegans, Robots, and Demons.
The game maintains the series’ energetic pixel-art personality while introducing a fresh journey rather than simply recreating the previous adventure. Several familiar characters are playable, including former enemies, and each one brings a different collection of attacks and abilities to the fight. Solo play is supported alongside cooperative multiplayer for groups that want to brawl together.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through side-scrolling environments while defeating groups of enemies using punches, kicks, throws, special attacks, and improvised weapons. Attacks can be connected into longer combinations, while each character has individual abilities that encourage slightly different approaches to combat.
Characters can also equip badges that unlock abilities, improve statistics, or provide other useful bonuses. New enemies and increasingly chaotic encounters require players to make better use of combos and special attacks as the adventure continues. Cooperative play allows multiple characters to fight through the campaign together both locally and online.
