Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II continues Senua’s journey with a darker and more cinematic adventure through Viking-era Iceland. Determined to confront the people responsible for suffering and enslavement, Senua enters a brutal world shaped by violence, mythology, fear, and her own perception of reality. The story places heavy emphasis on atmosphere and character performance, presenting the journey from an intensely personal perspective.
The sequel builds on the psychological themes of the original while greatly expanding the visual scale of its environments. How the Gameplay Works
Players guide Senua through mostly linear environments while exploring, solving environmental challenges, and progressing through story sequences. The camera remains close to Senua, helping combat and exploration feel more immediate. Audio also plays an important role, with voices and environmental sounds contributing to both atmosphere and Senua’s perception of events.
Combat consists of intense sword fights against individual opponents where blocking, dodging, timing, and counterattacking are more important than fighting large crowds at once. Encounters are integrated closely with the cinematic presentation, while quieter sections focus on traversal, observation, puzzles, and the continuing story.
