Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a turn-based traditional roguelike where players descend through a dangerous dungeon in search of the Amulet of Yendor. Every run rearranges floors, enemies, items, traps, and rewards, forcing players to adapt instead of memorizing a fixed route.
Several hero classes and subclasses support very different strategies, from direct melee combat to ranged attacks, stealth, and magic. Death is permanent, but each attempt teaches more about enemies, equipment, potions, scrolls, and dungeon systems.
How the Gameplay Works
Every movement or action advances the turn, giving players time to consider positioning before enemies respond. Weapons, armor, wands, rings, artifacts, potions, and scrolls can be identified and upgraded throughout the descent.
Hunger, traps, hidden doors, environmental hazards, and limited healing add pressure beyond ordinary combat. Bosses divide the dungeon into major regions and test whether the player’s current build is strong enough to continue.
