About This Game:
Slay the Princess is a branching psychological horror visual novel where an unseen narrator tells the player to enter a cabin and kill a princess because she will supposedly destroy the world. The simple order immediately becomes complicated when the princess speaks, questions the story, and reacts to every choice.
The game is built around uncertainty, repetition, and perspective. Dying or reaching an ending does not simply reset events; later loops remember previous decisions and introduce new versions of the princess, narrator, and protagonist.
How the Gameplay Works
Players choose dialogue responses, decide whether to take a knife, enter or avoid the basement, trust or challenge the narrator, and react to the princess in many different ways. There is no traditional combat system separate from these decisions.
Choices can transform the story into romance, horror, violence, cooperation, or something stranger. Hand-drawn art and fully voiced dialogue support the narrative, while the large branching structure encourages replaying to understand how different routes connect to the larger mystery. As more of the game opens up, branching psychological horror remains central but gains extra depth from choice-driven visual novel and multiple princess forms. Those systems create room for different strategies, while looping narrative structure encourages better use of the tools already introduced. Progress therefore feels like an expansion of the original loop rather than a series of disconnected mechanics.
