Solo Flight is an early civilian flight simulator designed by Sid Meier and originally released by MicroProse in the 1980s. Instead of concentrating on aerial warfare, the game challenges players to learn basic navigation, takeoffs, landings, and instrument flying.
A dedicated Mail Pilot mode turns those simulation systems into structured missions by asking the pilot to transport mail between airports. Mechanical and instrument failures can occur during these journeys, creating additional problems while the aircraft is already in flight.
How the Gameplay Works
Players fly an aircraft using a third-person external view combined with cockpit instruments displayed on the screen. Both visual flight rules and instrument flight rules can be used to navigate between airports.
Mail Pilot missions involve delivering five bags of mail to selected destinations while trying to complete the route efficiently. Navigation accuracy and travel time contribute to performance, while unexpected failures can force players to rely more heavily on their knowledge of the aircraft.
