Spyro: Year of the Dragon is a colorful 3D platforming adventure in which Spyro travels to the Forgotten Worlds after a mysterious Sorceress steals a collection of dragon eggs. Accompanied by Sparx and several familiar friends, Spyro explores themed worlds filled with enemies, puzzles, collectibles, challenges, and characters who need his help.
The adventure expands beyond Spyro by introducing several additional playable characters with their own abilities. Sheila the Kangaroo, Sergeant Byrd, Bentley the Yeti, and Agent 9 each provide different styles of movement and combat, while optional activities add further variety between the main platforming stages.
How the Gameplay Works
Spyro can run, jump, glide, charge enemies, and breathe fire while exploring large levels. The main objective involves recovering stolen dragon eggs, with many eggs awarded for completing platforming sections, defeating enemies, solving challenges, or helping characters around each world.
Gems are scattered throughout the environments and encourage thorough exploration. Special stages introduce skateboarding, swimming, flying, racing, and character-specific missions. New areas become available as enough eggs are collected and major boss encounters are completed.
