Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is the third and most refined version of Street Fighter III, expanding the roster and adjusting the combat systems of the earlier releases. The game combines detailed 2D animation with a cast that includes fighters such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Alex, Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki, Urien, and Gill.
Its fighting system places a strong emphasis on timing and reading an opponent rather than relying only on blocking. The signature Parry mechanic allows skilled players to completely avoid damage while remaining close enough to immediately counterattack, creating some of the most technical exchanges in the Street Fighter series.
How the Gameplay Works
Two fighters compete across multiple rounds using normal attacks, special moves, throws, jumping attacks, and Super Arts. Before fighting, each character selects one of several Super Arts, changing the powerful techniques available during the match.
Tapping toward an incoming attack at the correct moment performs a high Parry, while low attacks require a downward input. Successful Parries avoid chip damage and block stun, allowing immediate retaliation. EX attacks, universal overheads, throws, and character-specific combinations provide further offensive options.
