About This Game:
The Backrooms is a first-person horror experience built around being trapped inside an enormous maze of empty rooms and repeating corridors. Familiar-looking walls, buzzing lights, strange architecture, and the absence of normal landmarks create a constant feeling of uncertainty as the player searches for a way out.
Rather than relying on traditional combat, the game emphasizes exploration, atmosphere, and the fear of not knowing what may be around the next corner. The environment itself becomes part of the threat because similar-looking passages make navigation increasingly difficult.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore interconnected rooms and corridors from a first-person perspective while searching for routes, useful clues, and possible exits. Careful observation is important because recognizable landmarks are limited and wandering without a plan can easily lead back into previously visited areas.
Horror comes from environmental sounds, isolation, unusual events, and the possibility of encountering hostile entities. Survival generally depends on staying alert and moving away from danger rather than confronting every threat directly.
