Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a story-driven puzzle adventure set during World War I. Rather than following a single heroic soldier, it tells the intertwined stories of several ordinary people whose lives are changed by the conflict, including Emile, Karl, Freddie, Anna, and a helpful medical dog named Walt.
The game uses a stylized illustrated presentation while grounding many locations and events in real history. Its focus is less on traditional combat and more on survival, friendship, loss, rescue, and the human consequences of war.
How the Gameplay Works
Characters move through side-scrolling environments and solve contextual puzzles using nearby objects, switches, machinery, and character-specific abilities. Some sequences involve avoiding enemy soldiers, escaping artillery fire, treating wounded troops, driving vehicles, or coordinating actions with Walt.
