Wing Commander 4: The Price of Freedom is a cinematic space combat game set after the long conflict between the Terran Confederation and the Kilrathi. Although the major war has ended, violence and political instability continue along the frontier, eventually pulling veteran pilot Christopher Blair back into military service.
The game combines starfighter missions with extensive live-action sequences featuring actors including Mark Hamill and Malcolm McDowell. Conversations and decisions between missions are an important part of the experience, allowing the story to develop alongside the space combat rather than separating the narrative from the player’s actions.
How the Gameplay Works
Before combat, Blair receives mission briefings and can prepare for the operation by selecting from available fighters, wingmen, and weapon configurations.
