X-COM: Enforcer takes the X-COM universe away from its traditional turn-based strategy roots and turns it into a fast third-person shooter. Players control the Enforcer, an experimental combat robot created to fight the alien invasion directly when humanity needs another weapon against overwhelming extraterrestrial forces.
Rather than managing bases and commanding squads, the game places a single heavily armed machine into city streets, rooftops, sewers, industrial locations, and other alien-infested areas. The emphasis is on constant shooting, large groups of enemies, weapon upgrades, and arcade-style action.
How the Gameplay Works
The Enforcer moves through missions from a third-person perspective while using a growing collection of weapons to destroy aliens and complete objectives. Missions can involve eliminating enemy forces, protecting important areas, rescuing hostages, surviving attacks, destroying alien equipment, and facing larger boss enemies.
Defeated aliens drop data points that can be collected and used between missions for research. Unresearched objects can also open new development possibilities, allowing better weapons, armor, and other improvements to become available as the campaign progresses. This upgrade loop supports increasingly intense battles later in the game.
