About This Game:
Broken Lines is a story-driven tactical RPG set in an alternate version of World War II. After their aircraft crashes behind enemy lines, a group of soldiers finds itself isolated in unfamiliar territory with limited information about the conflict unfolding around them. Their immediate objective is survival, but the situation becomes increasingly strange as the squad travels deeper into the region.
The soldiers are individual characters rather than interchangeable units. Conversations, personal reactions, and decisions made during the journey shape the group’s story, while combat injuries and other consequences can affect how effectively the squad handles future encounters.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat combines tactical planning with real-time execution. The action pauses at regular intervals, allowing players to give orders such as moving into a new position, attacking a target, or using a character ability. Once the game resumes, the squad and opposing forces carry out their commands simultaneously.
Because actions unfold together, players must anticipate enemy movement rather than reacting to every shot individually. Cover, positioning, firing angles, squad abilities, and the timing of orders all matter. Outside battle, narrative choices and interactions between squad members influence the journey and can change how the story develops.
