About This Game:
Clunky Hero is a humorous metroidvania adventure following Rufus, an ordinary peasant whose wife has been kidnapped and transformed by an evil force. With little heroic equipment available, Rufus sets out wearing an improvised helmet and carrying unusual weapons in an attempt to rescue her.
The game mixes fantasy exploration with deliberately silly characters, dialogue, items, and situations. Interconnected environments contain monsters, secret areas, quests, merchants, and abilities that gradually turn the unlikely protagonist into a more capable adventurer.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore side-scrolling areas while jumping, attacking enemies, avoiding hazards, and searching for routes into new regions. Melee and ranged equipment provide different combat options, while healing and useful items help during longer expeditions.
New abilities allow Rufus to access locations that were previously unreachable, encouraging players to revisit earlier areas. NPC quests, equipment upgrades, hidden rooms, and boss encounters provide additional objectives alongside the main rescue story.
