Aragami 2 is a third-person stealth action game set in Rashomon Valley, where a supernatural affliction threatens the remaining members of the Aragami clan. Players take control of one of these shadow warriors and carry out missions against invading forces while trying to protect their village, rescue captured Aragami, and uncover more about the curse affecting their people. Shadow Essence gives the Aragami supernatural abilities that make stealth, mobility, and surprise attacks central to the experience.
The game expands beyond pure stealth by allowing direct sword combat when infiltration fails or when players deliberately choose a more aggressive approach. Missions can be completed alone or cooperatively with up to three players, while weapons, armor, abilities, and shadow powers provide several ways to develop a personalized assassin. Players can favor silent eliminations, non-lethal takedowns, direct combat, or a mixture of approaches depending on the situation.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore mission areas from a third-person perspective while moving across rooftops, hiding behind cover, observing enemy patrols, and using supernatural abilities to reach advantageous positions. Guards can be eliminated with stealth kills or knocked unconscious with non-lethal takedowns, allowing objectives to be completed without fighting every enemy. Fast movement and shadow abilities make it possible to enter restricted locations, escape detection, and reposition when patrols become dangerous.
If enemies discover the player, combat switches to a more direct sword-fighting system where attacking, defending, positioning, and timing become important. Progression allows the Aragami to unlock additional abilities and shadow powers while crafting and improving weapons and armor. The entire campaign supports single-player play as well as online cooperative missions for teams of up to three assassins, allowing players to coordinate stealth attacks and objectives together.
