About This Game:
Call of Juarez is a Western first-person shooter that tells its story through two very different playable characters. Billy Candle is a young fugitive accused of murder, while Reverend Ray is a former gunfighter turned preacher who believes Billy is responsible and sets out to hunt him down.
Because the campaign alternates between Billy and Ray, the style of play changes throughout the story. Billy relies more heavily on movement, stealth, climbing, and a bow, while Ray approaches danger as an experienced gunslinger carrying revolvers and other powerful firearms.
How the Gameplay Works
Ray’s missions concentrate on first-person gunfights, including dual-wielded revolvers and a concentration ability that helps him rapidly target several enemies. Billy’s sections are generally more cautious, requiring players to avoid heavily armed opponents, climb through environments, and use quieter weapons.
The game also includes horse riding and outdoor exploration across Western landscapes. Physics-based environmental interactions appear during puzzles and traversal, while the alternating perspectives allow the same unfolding conflict to be seen from both the hunted fugitive and the man pursuing him.
