Card Shark is an adventure about cheating wealthy opponents at card tables across 18th-century France. Rather than becoming a master at playing conventional card games, the protagonist learns increasingly elaborate methods of deception from the Comte de Saint-Germain and uses them to infiltrate higher levels of society.
The journey moves from modest establishments to increasingly prestigious gatherings where mistakes carry more serious consequences. Every new technique adds another form of misdirection involving cards, signals, observation, manipulation, or secretly communicating information.
How the Gameplay Works
Players perform cheating techniques through timing and memory-based interactions. Early tricks may involve glimpsing an opponent’s cards and signaling their suit, while later schemes require shuffling, dealing, switching cards, or completing several coordinated actions without attracting suspicion.
The challenge comes from executing each technique correctly while opponents watch for suspicious behavior. Successfully deceiving richer players provides access to more dangerous games and advances the wider story involving Saint-Germain and French society.
