Castle Crashers is a side-scrolling beat-’em-up in which a group of colorful knights fight through armies of enemies to recover stolen treasure and rescue kidnapped princesses. Its campaign moves through forests, castles, deserts, battlefields, and increasingly strange locations filled with exaggerated comedy.
Up to four players can travel through the adventure together, while characters gain levels and improve their core attributes over time. Numerous weapons, animal companions, and unlockable characters provide additional reasons to replay completed stages.
How the Gameplay Works
Players combine light and heavy attacks, jumping strikes, throws, and character-specific magic to clear groups of enemies. Experience increases a knight’s level, while earned points can be assigned to Strength, Magic, Defense, and Agility.
Stages contain shops, hidden items, bosses, and branching paths on the world map. Cooperative players can revive fallen teammates and combine attacks, although certain moments also turn the group against one another for bonus rewards.
