About This Game:
Chained Echoes is a story-driven pixel-art RPG set on the continent of Valandis, where three kingdoms are struggling through a fragile peace after generations of war. A diverse group of characters becomes involved in a conflict surrounding ancient powers, political ambitions, and a weapon capable of catastrophic destruction.
The game combines influences from classic 16-bit RPGs with faster progression, interconnected exploration, large optional areas, and mechanical Sky Armor suits. Battles avoid random encounters, letting players see most enemies before fighting them.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat is turn based and uses an Overdrive meter that rewards keeping actions inside an effective range. Repeatedly using certain skill types can push the party into Overheat, while varying actions can return the meter to a safer position.
Party members can be swapped during battle, allowing reserve characters to enter when their abilities are more useful. Exploration later expands with Sky Armors and airship travel, opening additional areas, optional bosses, and side quests.
