Conflict: Desert Storm II continues the squad-based tactical combat of the original game with another series of operations set during the Gulf War. Players once again command a four-man special forces squad containing soldiers trained for different battlefield roles.
The sequel expands the scale of combat with heavily defended bases, armored vehicles, urban environments, desert battlefields, and missions that require the squad to work together. Direct shooting remains important, but using the correct specialist for each task can make difficult encounters far more manageable.
How the Gameplay Works
Players can switch between squad members at almost any time while the remaining soldiers are controlled by AI. Each member specializes in a different area such as assault rifles, sniper weapons, machine guns, or explosives. Commands can be issued to control where teammates move and how they respond to enemies.
Objectives include destroying military equipment, eliminating enemy forces, reaching strategic locations, and supporting larger operations. Tanks and other vehicles appear during certain missions, while explosives and anti-armor weapons become essential against stronger targets. Keeping the entire squad alive remains an important part of successfully completing the campaign.
