Delta Force: Task Force Dagger is a tactical first-person shooter set around military operations in Afghanistan. Players take on missions as members of several international special operations units, including Delta Force, Green Berets, Navy SEALs, British SAS, and other elite forces. The campaign includes 25 missions built around objectives such as eliminating hostile forces, destroying military equipment, attacking missile sites, rescuing personnel, and infiltrating fortified locations.
The game follows the large-scale outdoor combat style of Delta Force: Land Warrior, giving players considerable freedom to move across open terrain and approach objectives from different directions. Long-range engagements, sniper fire, underground tunnel sections, and heavily defended enemy positions are mixed throughout the campaign. Players can also select from more than 30 weapons and choose their equipment before entering a mission.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore missions from a first-person perspective and use rifles, sniper rifles, machine guns, explosives, and other military equipment to complete assigned objectives. Large maps allow targets to be engaged from long distances, making careful aiming and positioning especially useful. Before deployment, players can select a weapon loadout suited to the mission, while additional weapons can be collected or exchanged at weapon caches during operations.
Some missions provide intelligence gathered by unmanned aerial vehicles, helping players identify enemy positions before attacking. Air strikes can also be called against selected targets such as SAM and SCUD missile sites. Missions generally provide objectives without forcing players along one exact route, allowing them to move through terrain, buildings, and tunnels while deciding how to reach each target. A mission editor is also included for creating custom single-player and multiplayer scenarios.
