Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is a compact turn-based puzzle roguelike where each dungeon is designed to be solved through careful resource use. Heroes explore small maps, fight monsters, gain levels, collect equipment, and try to defeat a boss without wasting the limited health and mana available.
The game differs from many dungeon crawlers because unexplored tiles restore health and mana. This turns movement itself into a resource, making the order in which rooms and enemies are approached extremely important.
How the Gameplay Works
Players click through the map one tile at a time, compare character strength with nearby monsters, cast spells, use items, and choose when to level up. Fighting a weaker enemy at the right time can restore the hero through a level increase and make a difficult encounter possible.
Between runs, the kingdom grows with new classes, races, gods, items, and challenge dungeons. The Rewind system gives players a chance to undo a mistake in selected situations without removing the underlying puzzle structure.
