Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive is a real-time tactical strategy game set in the American Wild West. Players lead gunslinger John Cooper and a growing group of specialists as they pursue a dangerous outlaw while taking on missions involving bandits, guarded towns, ranches, trains, and other frontier locations.
Each member of the group has different abilities, so success depends on combining their strengths rather than using direct gunfire for every problem. Stealth, distractions, traps, careful positioning, and synchronized actions are often more effective than attacking an entire group of enemies at once.
How the Gameplay Works
Players view each mission from an isometric perspective and control individual characters in real time. Guards have visible lines of sight and predictable routines, allowing players to study patrols before deciding where to move or which enemy should be removed first.
Different characters can shoot, throw knives, use traps, distract guards, heal allies, or perform other specialized actions. Missions often provide several possible solutions, rewarding patience and experimentation. Quick saving becomes especially useful when attempting complicated sequences involving several characters.
