Tekken 2 is a classic 3D fighting game that expands the original Tekken with a larger roster, improved movement, additional attacks, and a deeper story surrounding the Mishima family. Returning fighters are joined by new characters, each bringing a distinct fighting style and collection of punches, kicks, throws, and special techniques.
The game builds on the series’ one-on-one combat with more varied stages, character endings, and unlockable fighters. Its mix of martial arts-inspired moves and exaggerated techniques helped establish many of the characters and rivalries that would continue through later Tekken games.
How the Gameplay Works
Matches take place across 3D arenas where two fighters compete over multiple rounds. The four main attack buttons correspond to each character’s limbs, allowing players to combine different punches and kicks into strings, launchers, knockdowns, and stronger combinations.
Each fighter has a unique move list, making timing, blocking, punishment, and learning attack ranges increasingly important. Arcade progression puts players against a sequence of opponents, while Versus Mode allows two players to compete directly. Additional characters can be unlocked by completing the game with different fighters.
