Dragon Age II: Ultimate Edition follows Hawke, a refugee who escapes the destruction of Lothering and gradually rises to become the Champion of Kirkwall. The story covers several years of political tension involving mages, templars, nobles, criminals, Qunari, and Hawke’s own companions.
Much of the game is centered on Kirkwall and how the city changes over time. Decisions can affect companion relationships, faction conflicts, and the circumstances surrounding major events, while the Ultimate Edition includes additional downloadable story and equipment content.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat takes place in real time with the option to pause and issue orders. Hawke can be a warrior, rogue, or mage, while companions fill specialized combat roles using abilities, equipment, tactics, and class-specific skill trees.
Dialogue uses a wheel with different tones that shape Hawke’s personality. Friendship and rivalry systems track relationships with companions, allowing disagreements to create strong bonds rather than simply causing party members to leave.
