About This Game:
Eastward is a story-focused action adventure set in a world where much of humanity has retreated into underground settlements. The story follows John, a quiet miner, and Sam, a mysterious energetic girl, as they leave their isolated home and travel through towns, wilderness, ruins, and strange communities across the surface.
Detailed pixel artwork and character-driven storytelling give each location its own personality. The journey shifts between humorous encounters, quieter everyday moments, mystery, and increasingly dangerous events connected to the condition of the world.
How the Gameplay Works
Players primarily control John during combat, using tools such as a frying pan, bombs, and ranged weapons to deal with enemies and environmental obstacles. Sam has her own abilities that can interact with specific objects and enemies, and control switches between the two when puzzles require their different skills.
Dungeons combine enemy encounters with switches, movable objects, hazards, and cooperative-style puzzles involving both characters. Players can collect ingredients, prepare meals for useful bonuses, discover upgrades, interact with townspeople, and search areas for optional items.
