About This Game:
Fading Afternoon is a narrative beat-’em-up and life simulation about Seiji Maruyama, an aging yakuza recently released from prison. Rather than presenting a simple revenge story, the game lets players decide how Seiji spends what may be the final chapter of his life.
The city can be explored freely, and the story can move in different directions depending on whether the player pursues criminal work, fights rival gangs, builds relationships, or simply spends time on everyday activities.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat is side-view and real time, using punches, kicks, grabs, blocks, and contextual attacks. Seiji can fight groups of enemies, challenge stronger opponents, and use the environment during confrontations.
Outside combat, players can eat, drink, gamble, fish, rest, visit locations, and interact with characters. Health and time create a quiet pressure over the story, and multiple endings reflect how the player chooses to live rather than only which enemies are defeated. Because yakuza narrative drama, side-view beat-’em-up combat, and open city exploration remain useful throughout the game, players can keep building on what was learned early on. everyday life activities introduces additional pressure without making the original mechanics irrelevant, so later progression feels more like mastery than a complete reset of the rules.
