Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition is an open-world RPG set in the Mojave Wasteland after a courier survives an attempted execution and begins searching for the person responsible. The journey becomes entangled with a larger struggle between the New California Republic, Caesar’s Legion, Mr. House, and other groups competing for control of Hoover Dam and New Vegas.
The Ultimate Edition includes the main game and its major downloadable expansions, adding new regions, equipment, enemies, level progression, and interconnected stories. Player choices can dramatically change faction relationships, available quests, settlements, companions, and the political outcome of the Mojave.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat can be handled in real time or through V.A.T.S., which pauses or slows the action so specific body parts can be targeted using Action Points. Character growth is based on attributes, skills, perks, equipment, weapon condition, and optional Hardcore Mode systems such as hunger, thirst, sleep, and ammunition weight.
Dialogue checks can use skills beyond Speech, allowing knowledge of science, medicine, explosives, repair, barter, and other abilities to open different solutions. The included Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road expansions each provide a separate region and story while feeding back into the larger character build.
