Far Cry 2: Fortune’s Edition is an open-world first-person shooter set in a fictional African country torn apart by civil war. The player is sent to eliminate an arms dealer known as the Jackal, but quickly becomes involved with rival factions, mercenaries, civilians, and a harsh environment where survival is rarely simple.
The Fortune’s Edition includes the base game with additional weapons, vehicles, and maps from the Fortune’s Pack content. The game is known for physical systems such as spreading fire, weapon degradation, vehicle repairs, malaria management, and a map that must be handled directly rather than viewed as a full-screen pause menu.
How the Gameplay Works
Missions can be approached from different directions using rifles, explosives, sniper weapons, machine guns, stealthier equipment, vehicles, and environmental fire. Used weapons can jam or break as they deteriorate, encouraging players to acquire cleaner equipment from unlocked armories.
Travel takes place across large regions using roads, rivers, buses, boats, and off-road vehicles. Friendly mercenaries can become buddies who offer optional mission variations and rescue the player after a defeat, while faction jobs and side activities provide diamonds used to buy weapons and upgrades.
