About This Game:
Final Fantasy VII is a story-driven Japanese RPG that follows Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER who joins the eco-resistance group AVALANCHE on a mission against the Shinra Electric Power Company. What begins as a conflict over the planet’s Mako energy expands into a much larger journey involving Sephiroth, ancient history, and the fate of the world.
The adventure moves between pre-rendered towns and locations, world-map travel, cinematic story sequences, exploration, and turn-based battles controlled through the Active Time Battle system. Party members have distinct weapons and statistics, but the Materia system allows much of their magic and support functionality to be customized.
How the Gameplay Works
During combat, each character’s time gauge fills before commands such as Attack, Magic, Item, or Summon can be chosen. Equipping Materia grants spells, commands, summons, passive effects, and combinations that become stronger as the Materia gains experience. Limit Breaks charge as characters take damage and provide powerful character-specific abilities.
Outside battles, players explore towns and dungeons, speak with characters, collect equipment, solve environmental puzzles, and travel across the world using several vehicles. Optional areas, side activities, hidden Materia, powerful summons, and secret bosses provide significant content beyond the main story.
