Football Manager 2013 expands the traditional management experience while also introducing a more streamlined way to play. The full Career Mode retains the deep transfer, scouting, training, tactical, and financial systems expected from the series, while Football Manager Classic offers a faster route through seasons.
Challenge Mode provides another alternative by placing managers into specific difficult situations rather than starting a standard career. Improved staff responsibilities also allow selected duties to be delegated, giving players more control over how much of the club they personally want to manage.
How the Gameplay Works
Managers choose formations, player roles, team instructions, and starting lineups before watching matches through the 3D engine. Substitutions and tactical changes can be made throughout a game as players tire, opposition tactics change, or the score creates a need for a different approach.
Outside matches, players scout footballers, negotiate transfers, renew contracts, develop youth prospects, handle staff, and manage relationships with the board and media. Classic Mode reduces some of this workload, while Challenge Mode turns specific football situations into shorter objectives.
