About This Game:
Foretales is a narrative card adventure set in a world facing a potentially disastrous future. Players follow Volepain, a small-time thief troubled by visions of coming catastrophe, as he becomes involved in events that can develop very differently depending on the decisions made during each chapter.
Cards represent locations, characters, resources, abilities, and possible actions rather than functioning only as combat tools. This allows encounters to be solved through negotiation, stealth, bribery, intimidation, violence, or other approaches depending on the party and available resources.
How the Gameplay Works
Players place character and resource cards onto location cards to reveal events and possible actions. Different companions provide unique abilities, meaning the same situation may offer completely different solutions depending on who is traveling with Volepain.
Combat also uses cards, but avoiding a fight can often be just as effective. Choices consume resources and affect later chapters, while completing missions in different ways changes relationships, future events, and eventually the ending of the story.
