About This Game:
Going Medieval is a colony-building survival simulation set in an alternate medieval world where a devastating plague has left civilization severely reduced. Players begin with a small group of settlers and must turn an undeveloped piece of land into a secure settlement capable of surviving hunger, weather, raids, illness, and other threats. Every colonist has individual skills and traits that affect the jobs they perform best.
Construction is one of the game’s central systems, allowing settlements to grow vertically as well as underground. Players can build multi-story fortresses, towers, workshops, kitchens, storage rooms, bedrooms, defensive walls, and subterranean spaces. Farming, crafting, resource management, research, and defensive preparation become increasingly important as the colony grows larger.
How the Gameplay Works
Players assign settlers to tasks such as mining, farming, cooking, research, construction, crafting, and hauling while managing their daily schedules and priorities. Resources gathered from the surrounding land are turned into food, clothing, weapons, furniture, building materials, and other supplies. Temperature and storage conditions matter, so properly designed underground areas can help protect food and valuable goods.
As the settlement becomes more established, hostile groups may attack and attempt to break through its defenses. Walls, gates, towers, traps, elevation, and ranged positions can be incorporated into the design of a fortress. Settlers can be equipped for melee or ranged combat and directly positioned during battles. Research gradually unlocks new construction methods, production options, and technologies for expanding the colony.
