GROSS is a hybrid tower-defense and first-person shooter where the player builds defensive structures before enemy waves and then personally joins the fight when the attack begins. The game combines planning, resource management, traps, and direct weapon use.
The structure gives players two layers of control: defenses can shape how enemies move and weaken them automatically, while the player can respond to gaps or dangerous targets in real time.
How the Gameplay Works
Before each wave, players place walls, turrets, traps, and support structures using limited resources. Once enemies arrive, the perspective shifts into active combat where firearms and movement become important.
Money and upgrades earned from successful defense can improve both the fortifications and the player’s weapons. Later waves require stronger combinations because relying only on shooting or only on towers becomes less effective against tougher enemy mixes. Most of the game’s longer-term depth comes from combining tower defense and fps hybrid with buildable walls, traps, and turrets and first-person firearm combat. Learning when each system matters is more useful than focusing on one mechanic alone, and wave-based enemy attacks gives later sections a stronger sense of progression as the available options or challenges expand. This also means weapon and defense upgrades and resource management are not just side features; they help give the later parts of the game more variety once the main loop is familiar.
