Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition is an open-world action-adventure game set in the neon-filled streets of Vice City during the 1980s. Players take control of Tommy Vercetti, a former criminal who is sent to the city after spending years in prison. When a drug deal goes badly and both the money and merchandise disappear, Tommy is forced to track down those responsible while building connections with criminals, business owners, and other powerful figures across the city.

The Definitive Edition keeps the original story and open-world structure while updating the presentation with improved lighting, higher-resolution textures, redesigned character models, longer draw distances, and modernized controls. Players can freely explore Vice City, complete story missions, purchase properties, take part in optional activities, steal vehicles, and gradually build Tommy’s criminal influence across different parts of the city.

How the Gameplay Works
Players control Tommy from a third-person perspective and move around Vice City on foot or by using cars, motorcycles, boats, helicopters, and other vehicles. Story missions include shootouts, chases, assassinations, robberies, deliveries, and other criminal objectives. Firearms range from pistols and shotguns to assault rifles and heavy weapons, while melee weapons can be used during close-range encounters.

Outside the main storyline, players can explore the city freely and complete activities such as taxi driving, vigilante missions, ambulance work, street races, and property-related missions. Certain businesses and properties can be purchased and later generate income after their associated objectives are completed. Criminal actions attract police attention through the wanted level system, with increasingly powerful law-enforcement units joining the pursuit as the wanted level rises.
