About This Game:
Foundation is a medieval city-building simulation focused on creating organic settlements without relying on a rigid square grid. Villagers establish paths naturally as they travel between homes and workplaces, allowing towns to develop with irregular roads, neighborhoods, farms, marketplaces, and districts that resemble gradually formed medieval communities.
Players balance economic development with the interests of different estates while creating monuments from modular building pieces. The settlement evolves according to zoning, available jobs, resources, services, and the routes villagers take through the landscape.
How the Gameplay Works
Players designate residential areas and resource zones rather than placing every house manually. Villagers construct homes where suitable and establish walking paths through frequently used routes. Workplaces turn wood, stone, crops, livestock, and other resources into goods needed by the expanding population.
Churches, monasteries, castles, and other major structures can be assembled from modular components, allowing their shape and scale to be customized. Trade brings missing goods into the settlement, while promotions and estate progression unlock additional buildings and responsibilities as the town becomes wealthier.
