Hitman: Contracts is a third-person stealth game that presents a darker chapter in Agent 47’s career. After being seriously wounded during a mission in Paris, 47 experiences fragmented memories of previous assassinations while attempting to survive. The campaign combines new contracts with redesigned versions of assignments originally seen in Hitman: Codename 47, presenting them with updated environments, mechanics, and atmosphere.
Missions take players through hotels, estates, restaurants, ships, hospitals, and heavily guarded compounds where targets can usually be eliminated in several ways. Disguises, poison, fiber wire, firearms, accidents, and environmental opportunities allow players to decide how aggressive or discreet each assassination should be. Performance is ranked after every mission, with Silent Assassin remaining the highest goal for stealth-focused players.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore mission areas from a third-person perspective while observing guards, finding disguises, entering restricted locations, and searching for opportunities to reach their targets. A Suspicion Meter warns when 47’s behavior is attracting attention. Running unnecessarily, openly carrying suspicious weapons, picking locks in view of guards, or remaining in unauthorized areas can compromise a disguise.
Targets can be eliminated through direct gunfire or quieter methods such as strangulation, poisoning, and staged accidents. Bodies can be dragged away from patrol routes to reduce the chance of discovery, while weapons found in missions can become available later. Final rankings take into account factors such as casualties, shots fired, and how often guards were alerted.
