Bloody Roar 2 is a 3D fighting game built around warriors who can transform into powerful animal forms during battle. The roster includes fighters such as Yugo, Alice, Bakuryu, Long, Shenlong, Jenny, Busuzima, and others, each possessing a different beast transformation and fighting style. Human and beast forms provide different moves and combat advantages, creating an additional layer of strategy beyond standard one-on-one fighting.
The sequel expands the transformation system with Beast Drives, cinematic super attacks capable of dealing heavy damage. Transforming can also improve a fighter’s offensive abilities and provide access to attacks unavailable in human form. Because beast energy is limited and Beast Drives consume the transformation, deciding when to change form becomes important during close matches.
How the Gameplay Works
Two fighters battle inside 3D arenas using punches, kicks, throws, combinations, counters, and character-specific techniques. A Beast Gauge allows fighters to transform during the round, changing their appearance and unlocking stronger attacks. Beast form can also restore part of the recoverable portion of the health gauge while giving the character greater offensive potential.
Beast Drives are powerful character-specific super attacks performed while transformed. Successfully connecting one triggers a cinematic sequence and causes considerable damage, but using the technique returns the fighter to human form. Players therefore need to balance normal attacks, transformations, defensive play, and the risk of spending their beast energy on a major finishing technique.
