Honey, I Joined a Cult is a management simulation about building and operating an eccentric religious compound during the 1970s. Players create a cult, design its headquarters, recruit followers, generate money, and attempt to expand the influence of its charismatic leader.
Followers have needs and personalities that must be managed while the organization deals with outsiders, authorities, and rival groups. The exaggerated presentation treats the subject as a humorous management challenge rather than a serious religious simulation.
How the Gameplay Works
Players construct bedrooms, kitchens, ritual rooms, entertainment facilities, medical areas, and other spaces needed to support followers. Members can be assigned jobs, sent on missions, trained, and encouraged to participate in activities that produce resources or increase devotion.
Money and influence allow the compound to expand, but poor living conditions or weak leadership can reduce follower loyalty. Public suspicion and outside threats also have to be managed as the cult becomes larger and more visible.
