I.G.I. 2: Covert Strike is a tactical first-person shooter that brings former SAS operative David Jones back for a new series of secret missions. The campaign begins with the theft of advanced EMP technology and eventually leads Jones through Russia, Libya, and China while he investigates a wider conspiracy. Missions take place across large military installations, airfields, harbors, research facilities, and outdoor environments where direct combat is rarely the safest solution.

The sequel places greater emphasis on stealth and provides multiple routes through its 19 missions. Players are heavily outnumbered, so avoiding patrols, disabling security, using silenced weapons, and studying enemy positions can make objectives significantly easier. Unlike the first Project I.G.I., Covert Strike also introduces limited mission saving and multiplayer support.

How the Gameplay Works
Players control David Jones from a first-person perspective while using modern firearms, explosives, lock picks, surveillance equipment, and other covert tools. Objectives can include infiltrating secure locations, stealing intelligence, destroying equipment, escaping enemy compounds, or reaching specific targets without raising alarms. Large maps usually offer several ways to approach each objective.

Jones can use lock picks and safe-cracking equipment to enter restricted areas quietly, while remote-controlled explosives allow selected targets to be destroyed from a safer distance. Certain missions provide laser designators that can call air strikes on marked targets. Difficulty settings influence enemy effectiveness, player survivability, and the number of saves available during a mission.
