Jagged Alliance is a tactical strategy game in which players hire mercenaries to help regain control of the island of Metavira. The island’s valuable resources have become the center of an armed conflict, requiring the player to assemble a capable team and gradually take territory away from hostile forces.
Mercenaries are individual characters rather than disposable units. Each has different combat abilities, medical skills, equipment expertise, personality traits, and hiring costs, making team selection an important part of the overall strategy.
How the Gameplay Works
Players manage operations from an island map and send hired mercenaries into contested sectors. Tactical battles are turn based, with characters receiving action points that can be spent moving, firing weapons, treating injuries, interacting with objects, or changing position.
Controlling territory provides resources needed to continue the campaign, while damaged equipment, wounded soldiers, ammunition, and mercenary contracts require attention between battles. Losing experienced fighters can seriously weaken the team, making survival and careful planning important.
