Legends of Eisenwald is a medieval tactical role-playing game set in a fictionalized Germanic world where superstition, political rivalry, religion, and folklore exist alongside grounded feudal conflict. Players lead a noble hero and a growing warband through a story filled with disputed lands, dangerous roads, rival factions, and supernatural mysteries.
The game mixes strategic travel across regional maps with turn-based tactical combat. Troops gain experience and can develop into different advanced classes, allowing the player’s army to evolve throughout the campaign rather than being repeatedly replaced by disposable units.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move between castles, villages, monasteries, and other locations while accepting quests and making decisions that influence relationships with regional powers. Gold is used to recruit and equip soldiers, while captured or allied settlements can provide additional strategic advantages.
Battles take place on compact grids where units attack according to weapon range and positioning. Archers, cavalry, infantry, healers, and other troops serve different roles. Surviving soldiers earn experience and can branch into stronger versions of their class, making the preservation of veteran units valuable.
