About This Game:
Midnight Study is a supernatural roguelike deckbuilder set inside Yongcheon High School after a forbidden ritual transforms the building into a ghost-filled labyrinth. Four students enter the school’s sealed occult club room and accidentally awaken spirits connected to a long-standing legend. Escaping now means using inherited shamanic powers to fight through the endlessly changing school.
The game combines card-based strategy with a slingshot-style aiming system. Instead of simply selecting an attack and watching it happen, players fire projectiles across the battlefield and bounce them from walls and other surfaces to activate talismans. Different students also bring their own weapons and fighting styles, giving each run a different tactical foundation.
How the Gameplay Works
During encounters, players predict projectile trajectories and aim shots so they ricochet into talisman cards positioned around the battlefield. Successfully activating the right talismans produces attacks and effects against the spirits. Angles and rebounds therefore become just as important as choosing which cards belong in the deck.
Victories provide additional talismans and relics that can be combined into stronger builds. The school changes between runs, introducing different battles, rewards, and routes through the labyrinth. Players can choose between four students from the Archery, Kendo, Chemistry, and Track & Field clubs, with each character offering a different weapon and tactical approach.
