MIGHTY GUNVOLT BURST is a retro-styled 2D action platformer featuring characters from the Mighty No. 9 and Azure Striker Gunvolt universes. Its pixel-art presentation resembles classic console shooters, but underneath the old-school appearance is a detailed customization system that lets players modify how their character’s attacks behave.
Stages are filled with enemies, hazards, collectible upgrades, and large bosses. A scoring mechanic rewards players for defeating enemies at close range, encouraging a more aggressive approach instead of remaining safely at the edge of the screen.
How the Gameplay Works
Players run and jump through side-scrolling stages while firing at enemies and avoiding projectiles. Defeating targets from close range triggers Burst bonuses that increase scoring and reward players willing to move nearer to danger.
Customization points and modules can be combined to alter projectile size, direction, speed, elemental properties, firing patterns, and other weapon characteristics. Different playable characters also bring their own movement and attack differences, creating several ways to replay the stages.
