NBA Live 2005 combines traditional NBA competition with a stronger focus on All-Star Weekend events. Alongside complete basketball games, players can take part in the Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Shootout, and other activities associated with the league’s midseason showcase.
The game features NBA teams and rosters from the period while continuing the series’ Freestyle Control system. Player movement, dribbling, dunks, passing, and defense can be combined with individual ratings to recreate different styles of professional basketball.
How the Gameplay Works
Standard matches allow direct control over shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, and team tactics. Freestyle moves help ball handlers attack defenders, while stronger interior players can use post play and physical finishing near the basket.
The Slam Dunk Contest changes the normal rules by allowing players to build creative dunk combinations and use different takeoff and finishing moves. Dynasty Mode provides multi-season team management for players who want progression beyond individual games.
